Asia Philanthropy Congress

The Asia Philanthropy Congress was launched in 2022 as a venue for inviting the leaders of organizations in the philanthropy sector, especially foundations engaged with addressing social issues in the Asia region, and promoting cooperation and coordination aimed at solving these issues. Philanthropic activities––meaning both charitable work and social contribution––have an advantage in that they allow the swift provision of assistance in areas where public assistance from government agencies, corporate activities, or social investment cannot offer sufficient solutions. The congress gathers the leaders of the Asian philanthropy sector, especially from foundations that play a leading role in such activities, aiming to identify solutions together. The theme of the 2nd congress is diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). DE&I serves as the fundamental concept for us to improve society so that no one is left behind and everyone is given equal opportunity for social participation. All sessions in the congress will revolve around the core theme of DE&I, discussing related topics from various angles.

Organizer

The Nippon Foundation is a non-profit philanthropic organization that was established in 1962. It is active in Japan and around the world. Initially its efforts focused largely on the maritime and shipping fields, but since then the range of its activities has expanded to education, social welfare, public health, and other fields—carried out in more than 100 countries to date. Together with more than 20 partner organizations in Japan and worldwide it is funding and assisting community-led efforts aimed at realizing a more peaceful and prosperous global society.

Founded in December 2011, AVPN is the largest social investment network in Asia, with over 600 diverse members in 33 markets. The network enables collaborations between policy makers, family offices, foundations and the private sector to increase the impact & flow of capital deployed towards closing SDG gaps in Asia. AVPN’s mission is to catalyze the movement toward a more strategic, collaborative and outcome focused approach to social investing, ensuring that resources are deployed as effectively as possible to address key social challenges facing Asia today and in the future.
